Povpre\u010dna starost ladij je bila nekaj nad 19 let in niso bile ravno v dobrem stanju. Skupna nosilnost pravkar prejetih ladij je bila 853 BRT, od tega 10 tovornih, a 8 je bilo jadrnic. To so bile zastarele, prakti\u010dni odslu\u017eene ladje, zato so na\u010drtovali nakup potni\u0161ke ladje Ivan Cankar od <a href=\"https:\/\/tehnika.lzmk.hr\/jugolinija\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Jugolinije<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Potni\u0161ka ladja Ivan Cankar je bila ena izmed pet enakih ladij izdelanih v ladjedelnici v Puli. Lahko bi jim rekli ladje knji\u017eevnikov, pisateljev, ali poetov, saj so zgradili 5 ladij petor\u010dkov, ki so jih poimenovali po knji\u017eevnikih petih republik Jugoslavije. Prvo ladjo so zgradili leta 1952 in jo imenovali Ivan Nazor, po hrva\u0161kem, oziroma istrskem pisatelju. Istega leta so splovili ladjo Njego\u0161, leto kasneje pa \u0161e ladje: Aleksa \u0160anti\u010d, Vuk Karad\u017ei\u0107 in Ivan Cankar. Vse so zgradili v <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brodogradili%C5%A1te_Uljanik\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">ladjedelnici Uljanik<\/a> v Puli. Ladja Ivan Cankar je bila dolga 54 metrov in \u0161iroka 8,5 metra z motorji Fiat Torino 735 kW in hitrostjo 14,5 vozla. Motorno ladjo Ivan Cankar so leta 1973 prodali Italijanom (Giulio Scarano), kjer je preva\u017eala potnike in istega leta spremenila ime v &#8220;Campania Prima&#8221;. Leta 1980 so jo predelali v ladjo za podvodne raziskave in je spremenila ime v &#8220;Casamicciola Express&#8221;. Leta 1983 se je zaletela v pomol v Raveni in ni ve\u010d plula, polno vode so namerno nasedli v plitvini, da ne bi potonila v globine morja.
